Kevin Kiernan (Kev CK), Co-founder of Spaceship Brain Productions:
Kevin Kiernan likes cameras, lights, microphones, computers, musical composition/instruments, and strands of copper wire that he can twist together to make things happen. He is proficient in all of these things, and this is good for Spaceship Brain Productions, which he formed with his life long friend John Philapavage in 1998.
After Spaceship Brain’s first project Leaving Hollywood, a mockumentary featurette about two young men leaving their promising careers as employees of a video rental store, Kevin matriculated at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia to study film. Thanks to University of the Arts College of Art and Design’s “foundation program” Kevin learned a little about two-dimensional and three-dimensional design, very little about film and film production, and a lot about his distaste for institution led learning. Kevin promptly dropped out with the hopes of doing something better with his time. He thinks (at least hopes) he has.
Kevin recently made his solo directorial debut with The Potpourri of Mopery, and has acted as co-director and producer with John on all other Spaceship Brain projects to date. He specializes in storyboarding/shot selection, editing, lighting, and most other technical aspects of filmmaking. Kevin is also involved in the writing of Spaceship Brain projects and was the primary screenwriter of The Potpourri of Mopery. Kevin wrote a performed music for all of Spaceship Brain’s projects to date.
Kevin would like to continue making movies until he one day falls over dead, and would like to actually make some money doing it (making movies that is).
